Anyone know the real scoop on the 1870 and 1914 Grand Cross repros or copies supposedly made by Steinhauer & Luck? They appear to be two-piece cast pieces (core is integral), very nice detail and marked 800. Both the 1870 and 1914 use the exact same core details, except for the dates. Unfortunately, the crowns and W's are nothing like the real Grand Crosses. According to Previtera, even the wearer or museum copies of the period pretty well matched the 5 originals in construction and detail. Are these Steinhauers modern (currently made), or pre-1945?
