    Non-magnetic EK1

I just got this from Bill Shea. It's an unmarked screwback made out of brass or tombak (or something like that.) Anyway, I like it. I have heard that non-magnetics were for Naval personnel, etc. Is there any truth to that or is more like they were private purchase for the soldier or officer on a "budget" in other words, a poor man's EK1. Also, is it World War I made or post-war?
    Regards,
    Ron

The non magnetic or brass core EKs for Naval personel is a myth. Imperial EKs have a large variety of materials and construction methods including brass cores, one piece brass, zinc cores, stamped sheet metal cores, blued cores etc. There are also varities in the frames, including silver, tomback, brass etc. Being a screwback this is a private purchase example, perhaps post war, although I can't say for sure.
