I was going to add in my post that for an active duty officer this would be unlikely, but (a) I forgot and (b) the thought occurred that he might have gotten out soon after '37. A commissioning date around 1898-1900 would have made him rather old by 1940 or so.

Gentlemen,
As this is now for sale I would like to bring up one more point about this bar. I find it odd that the 40 year wreath is used over a Prussian 25 year LS rather than a TR piece. I have never noticed this on other bars. Have any of you? The prussian piece is mich easier and cheaper to pick up that the TR counterpart.
