Hi Brian,
EASY to find??? not at all! REO4X awarded in Colonial wars around 600 times, KO3X awarded around 250 times, so both rarer than a WW1 plm. So tell me how often You find a real plm and You know how often You can find a ribbon bar like that.
2nd point, yes the old style Ordensbänderschnalle was made from normal size ribbons, but I have also seen ones made from smaller ribbons.
Best regards
Daniel

Holy cow I had no idea they were only awarded to that number. That would make it very difficult.
Now here's the rub. I have some left over ribbons that Gen. v. Etzel kept in a bag, extra left over for probably a future ribbon bar, replacement, etc.
If I could find the two large sword devices I could create his wartime ribbon bar assuming I could find an old bar lying around somewhere for 6 ribbons.
Rick tried to tell me this would be difficult and I didn't want to listen... Now I understand why with the very low numbers awarded of both, finding both on a bar would be very tough.

Hi Brian,
why to make such an effort to make ribbon bars when You already have the medal bars?
I would leave the stuff like it is. Anyway it will be not at all easy to find Your needed spare-parts. That old style Ordensbänderschnallen are really rare. I have nearly 200 M1915 and later, but not even 10 Ordensbänderschnallen!
Best regards
Daniel

Actually, my mother told me the uniforms survived in the basement and then disappeared afterwards. Very possibly they were on the tunic. Which means the ribbon bar is still floating around out there more than likely. That's the part that has her so confused is that she is absolutely sure she saw her father in his uniform after the war ended for photos.
