This isa question to which I think I used to know the answer, but I cannot for the life of me recall the answer.
I was looking at an Imperial German tunic. Instead of loops where a ribbon bar or a medal bar would have been worn, it seemed to have lines of thread sewn horizontally. If you were looking at the tunic, to the right of the buttons there was a short length of thread, then a gap, then a longer length of thread.
So how exactly did they wear medals or ribbons on such a set-up?
