    Prussian NCO Guards pickle

This is my 'pickle' I am right aren't I, Prussian Guards NCO.

Is there a way to date these approximately, there is a paper label inside I'll try to get a pic of that.

If I remember, these belong to the Kaisers guard a bit like our Foot Guards or Household Division here in the UK.

Of course Cavalry helmets are the ones to get if you can afford one.

Were there different regiments like our Scotts, Welsh, Grenadier and Coldstream Guards and did they have different helmet plates or was there a single plate for the Guards regiments.

This one scares my daughter she calls it the monsters eye, so it's known as the cyclops hat.

    Kind regards,

    Marcus

                    Nice piece

Good helmet plate, white metal fittings were worn by Guard Pioneers principally. Have you checked out Tony @ the Kaiser's Bunker website, pribably more helpful stuff there. It is quite an early pattern judging by the shape & the perlring at the base of the spike.

                      Foot Guards

                      Hi Marcus,

like our own finest, the Prussian Guard infantry consisted of numerous regiments and independent battalions as follows:

                      In peacetime:

                      1. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß
                      2. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß
                      Kaiser Alexander Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr.1
                      Kaiser Franz Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 2
                      Garde-Füsilier-Regiment
                      3. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß
                      4. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß
                      Königin Elisabeth Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 3
                      Königin Augusta Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 4
                      5. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß
                      Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 5
                      Garde Jäger-Bataillon
                      Garde-Schützen-Bataillon

                      Wartime additions:

                      1. Garde-Ersatz-Regiment later 1. Garde-Infanterie-Regiment
                      2. Garde-Ersatz-Regiment later 2. Garde-Infanterie-Regiment

                      1. Garde-Reserve-Regiment
                      2. Garde-Reserve-Regiment

                      Garde-Reserve-Jäger-Bataillon
                      Garde-Reserve-Schützen-Bataillon

The Lehr-Infanterie-Bataillon later regiment was also a component of the Guards Corps.

                      Regards
                      Glenn

I'll write that down Glenn thanks for your time on that, that must have taken ages to write.

                        Thank you,

                          Hey Marcus,

How much for the "Four post helmet display unit"

                          Cheers,

                          Ed

                            Glenn,

you forgot at least 20 regiments... I can look them up if you want.

                              Hi Marcus,

                              slight typo:

                              1. Garde-Ersatz-Regiment & 2. Garde-Ersatz-Regiment became the 6. & 7. Garde-Infanterie-Regiment respectively.

                              Jan,

I can't think of any more GUARDS INFANTRY REGIMENTS

                              Regards
                              Glenn
