    1913 Centennial Iron Cross

I have heard of this award once before on a WA thread; some thought it was a faker's fantasy line and others not. Unfortunately, the thread ran out of steam before the issue was decided. What's the deal? Was there really a 1913 reissue of the 1813 award in honor of the centennial? Anyway, one is being offered on Ebay. Thanks, Ausgang

1813 German Prussia Iron Cross first cross.
Manufactured in 1913 for the centennial celebrations, this Iron cross is Identical to the original crosses. Nice overall patina, a good “space filler” for the almost un-obtainable original crosses. It has four loops attached to the reverse for attachment to the tunic.

Yes they were made, but were more for patriotic displays and to be a part of the 100 year celebrations.
Obviously there would have been no one left alive from the Napoleonic wars.

Wouldn't pay much more that $50 for it, how would you really know when it was made, could well be a total fake, a ruined 1914 EK1 etc...

not saying that there were not some kind of EKs made for display or toys or whatever as part of the 100 year celebrations in 1913, but if there were some then these are by no means awards and they are not part of the Iron Cross family .... they are novelty or patriotic items...if indeed they were made. Cheers, Torsten.
