Just got this one new. Measures like a 1939 EK!!! But with "800" silver mark. No maker! Note the little "nose" on the frame were the loop is soldered. I know this "nose" only from "KO" crosses, but the iron core on this cross is completely different.

Hmmm... no, too much patina and the core is different. And the 800 mark would be very strange on a 1957.

Hello
I remember reading that after 1940 or so replacement crosses for world war 1 vets used the new larger size 1939 pattern. I hope this helps I have seen one or two at dealer sites.

Thanks. I thought about the same, but the silver mark seems nearly impossible after 1940. Too expensive in war times. Maybe some kind of luxuary self-bought cross of the 20s?

Hey Brian, thats the SAME MAKER!!! Compare with my cross! They are like twins. Same core, same frame! Has your cross got a silver mark?

Yes, same cross but no silver mark. Without silver mark I would say that my cross was made in the Third Reich, but with silver mark I am not sure. That would be too expensive in the late 30s...
Very strange...
