            Andy,

Nice grouping making these common awards uncommon.

Cert 1 and the Award envelope goes to the 'Kriegsverein Kreuz.' It is the one with the horizontal black & white stripes on the ribbon. You have the reverse shown. If you look in between the arms of the cross, it has the letters 'P' 'L' 'K' 'V' for the Prussian land war vets organization.

Cert 2 & 3 belong to the Hindenburg Cross for 'Eltern' or parents. This is also called the widows' cross etc. It was for next of kin who lost someone in the Great War.

Cert 4 belongs to the PLKV '50' faithful years of membership ribboned award on the right. Very rarely do you see certficates for these.

The condition of these medals and the named certificates makes this comoon group very desirable. Congrats. Steve

Certificates 2 & 3 are both for the Black Hindenburg Honour Cross for next of kin. Certificate 1 is for the other Cross. Certificate 4 is for the badge with the 50 above it. Hope it's clear as it was the best way I could think to describe.

well done guys what else can I say.....
I wonder what the most distant possible kin could have been in order to be eligile for the widow's cross...
                Cheers

3 is the transmittal doc for the medal. This is a superb and rare, rare, rare set! Well done.

would it depend at all on who was named as his next of kin in official records ? Has anyone ever seen one to the soldiers child(ren) ?

Many thanks for all the help. From what you have said, this set was issued to the next of kin meaning he lost his life in WW1. Also, can anyone tell me the award criteria for the 'Kriegsverein Kreuz'

Andy - the Kriegerverein is the Vet Club or Vet Union, first independently, later on with all clubs organized under the Kyffhauser. The award criteria, as far as I am informed was simply membership in those clubs....
                        Cheers

Duh - I confused the Kriegerverein Ehrenkreuz with the Kriegerverein Pin - Nevermind - I don't know the award criteria for that one..... silly me....
