    Unmarked EK2 KAG?

I was just looking over my Imperial EK's and noticed something. I have an unmarked EK2 that I don't know the maker of. I also have a marked KAG and they look very similar. The unmarked is slightly bigger but the cores look alot alike. What does everyone think. I hope the pictures are good enough. First the unmarked.

          Hi Steve,
I am new to the forum. I have collected for 30 years but still don't know much. What is a KAG? Is that a maker or type? I saw a cross with simmilar ring, I thought someone had drilled it to replace a broken ring so I passed. The rings are both lighter weight that theones in the photos you posted. Should I take a chance and pickit up for $30?
          Thanks, Henry

I think I answered my own question by looking over my few crosses. One of my EK1s is marked K.A.G. The other two are not marked and only 2 of my EK2s are marked, KO and W , G or 6 it is hard to read.
            Thanks, Henry.

Those letters you see on the rings are the maker's marks. Each one is a different maker, most unknown. KO is the most common of them all and KAG is not hard to come by either. I don't even think KO is and actual maker like others but some sort of government santioned maker or something. Maybe someone can explain. KAG is uhknown and G is Godet, a maker of many Imperial medals and EK's into WW2 also. Here's a link to a makers list.

Thanks a bunch Steve. That is a big help. I did take a drive this morning to pick up the $30 EK-2 that I had mentioned. I think it was worth the trip. It is unmarked and the ring appears to be plated brass, but it's hard to tell. The core is magnetic.
I am sure that as I keep reading the forum I will learn a bit.
                Thanks again for the help.

                  Steve,

I think you are correct. Looks a lot like the KAG core in every detail both front and back. Steve

Thanks, I know the pictures aren't perfect but if someone knew KAG cores well I figured I might get some comfirmation. It's nice to ID unknown crosses. I just happen to notice it by fluke. I'm going to have to study my collection and others more.

Now, what's the story on KO? Is it a maker or something else?
