The Boy Scout who took this snap with his Brownie was a little shakey, so the photo is on the fuzzy side. However, you can see why the old showoff had to wear a truss.

The poor Count probably NEEDED one, wearing all that ironmongery! Must have had to build up the off side shoe for uneven wear too!
Don't laugh, but I actually had a Wehrmacht issue truss years ago. Sold it to a delighted collector as I dissolved in pools of uncontrollable hysterical laughter. Probably a "museum piece" that I let go dirt cheap, but couldn't help it....

Ah, the Count. What a GREAT book: The Sea Devil! One of the first WW1 stories I ever read in a 4th grade anthology.
Greart photo. Usually i just see his portrait that he signed and passed around that he had done in the 1920s.
