        I do not know who made these crosses but the pin and catch
        look like textbook examples of the backs of Godet EK1s.

          It is also the wrong color - it's supposed to be golden, not silver. This one looks like silvered zinc?

          The full name of what it is supposed to be is:

          Kriegsehrenkreuz für heldenmütige Tat

            Hi ChrisH,

            As pointed out by ddoering in post #2, this cross is from Lippe Detmold; and Imperial Quest is correct with the figure of 740 awards. In my opinion, your piece is 100% correct and is one of the nicest examples I have seen; although ottomaton has a good point with regard to the color.

            Is the color in your pictures absolutely correct? Compare with the slightly beaten example shown below. Regardless, a nice cross you have there -

                The color is obviously being washed out by the brightness reflected from background, and is a little soft.

                Is this closer to the true color?

                    Hi Guys, let me just tell you that I now own this cross( purchased on Ebay last week) and it IS Gilded bronze and BEAUTIFUL !!!!! And a bargain too......Ferg1
