Nice bar, as usual Werner, but does it have hooks on the
back to attach the medals that go with the ribbons?
Reading about the evolution of ribbon brs, the trapazoid
bar is obviously old; and I think made to attach or remove
the medals for the occaision, i.e. field wear or more formal occasions.
I don't think we've come to a conclusive definition of
"court" and "parade" mount. I see these terms thrown about
    wildly with no consistency.

Sight unseen, I can guarantee you that Werner's bar does not have hooks on the back. That is the standard officers' ribbon bar as worn until the M1915 little ones began to be used.

Occasionally these are found with an odd hook on back. I think there's one in the Ribbon Bar Article of about 5 or 6 ribbons, with a hook only in the last place, as if if Prince Whuzzit showed up unexpectedly, his award could be slipped on in a hurry. I'm not sure that explains the "odd hook" ones, since I've seen others that seem intended to fasten to shoulder cords or similar uniform gear.

"Court mounted" seems to be the British usage, while Americans use "parade." I prefer "full dress" myself.

        Hi Paul,

there are no hooks on the back - the general retired in 1912 and he was wearing the ribbon-bar before. Another example is the trapezoid style ribbon bar from Major Richard in the IR 83. He died 06.08.1914 in front of Lüttich.
