Victoria Marked EK1 - Rare??

Hi guys, a ran across a vaulted, screw-backed Victoria EK1 in a dealers shop this weekend. The condition is exceptional, but only the disk is marker marked and it is not silver but base metal and magnetic. The makers mark is weakly struck or it may just be that the black paint is obscuring the writing.

Is this maker rare? can anyoone post a scan of an original and the weight?

Hi Greg,

The maker known but is uncommon. The maker marks tended to be weakly struck and normally read "Victoria DRGM".

Blakc on the screwdisk sounds very unusual. Without seeing it, I'm thinking someone has been using a paint brush - unless you are talking about patina?

I'm attaching a couple of scans of my example - it's beaten up and these are the only pics I have with me. The cross was leaning away for the scanner so unfortunately the MM is not that clear. You can see the impression of the marking at the 7:30 position on the obverse image as well. No weight, sorry.

Thanks Mike, your looks just like the one in the shop. I now have to fugure out if I really need this one. I'm having some issues with the the price - apparently the dealer believes that the cross in question is Hindenburg's personal EK1!
