EK 1 1870/double pin back opinion

I recently found an EK 1870 witth a double pin back with catch. Stamps are 800, crescent moon and here is what worries me it looks to be a jewlers stamp/initials on the catch. Has anyone ever heard of that before? News to collecting but it is a minefield. Concerned...........Help!!
