Expecting arrival in a couple of days from one of only two dealers that I trust... It is marked "800" behind the pin. I believe these are attributed to the maker "Rothe" located in Austria.

Maybe you can answer this for me, because this has been like a"holy grail" search for me. That is I am looking for proof that Rothe & Neffe actually made Iron Crosses. I've seen many referred to as R&N, usually Meybauers or AWS', but I haven't actually seen one myself. I've discussed with many in the past about the possibility of R&N being a Case manufacturer or a distributing jeweller, but I've never heard or seen proof of any of this. Only my belief. If you have any documentation as to the firm of Rothe & Neffe actually manufacturing crosses it would be greatly appreciated. Not trying to hijack a thread, please start a new one if you would like to discuss this. Thanks, Russel

Hi Russel,
I wish that I had some concrete proof, however I am basically going off of what I have learned here and internet serches, hence my statement that "I believe"... I apologize if this made you think I actually had proof, unfortunately it was merely intended to reflect my thoughts and opinion based on what I had seen to date.
Thanks! I had never read that thread before. I've discussed in the past at great length on GMIC with the gentlemen there about the same thing we are talking about now. I probed the minds of many a experienced collector for the proof of R&N being a manufacturer. None had any documented proof. We've seen pictures before of crosses called R&N. I think a lot of people have an idea of what a R&N is, but are they right? I bought an AWS(knowingly) from GDM that was being called a Rothe & Neffe. In Privetera's book he mentions a Meybauer as a Rothe & Neffe. The +M+ is interesting, but is that a R&N mark? Who knows? One day I hope to find the proof of this "holy grail" of Iron Crosses. Until then, I will continue to search for the answers. Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated! Thanks again, Russel
