Hi Chaps,
I picked this group of items up some years ago and have just written an article for future publication on It. As It was all out and being photographed I thought I would post it here too.
Othmar wolfan was an Imperial Austro Hungarian Fighter Pilot. He began his military career in a cavalry regiment until being wounded in 1915. He then commanded a machine gun company for a couple of years getting quite highly decorated before transferring to the Air Corps in the latter stages of the war where he was to score 1 kill.
After the war he flew for the fledgling Czech air force until 1920 when he was demobbed. Quite an early nazi party member, the official story says he was a staff officer commanding an Air Base in Norway but in reality it is fairly certain that he was a spy/intelligence operative. One of only 48 recipients of the RK of the KVK without swords, awarded in secret due to his sensitive work, he is used as an example recipient for that decoration on this site.
The RK was sold off some years ago to whom I dont know and other than a few photos in the Austrian Air Force Museum I was able to purchase the bulk of his estate. Amongst the photos etc is a huge manuscript which I intend to have translated. hopefully this will shed much light on what he got up to.
I hope you like it.
Yours, Guy.
The first photo, unfortunately this one and the 2 Airfield shots are the ones in the museum.
