Thoughts on Bavarian Medal Bar

Hello all

What are your thoughts on this Bavarian medal bar?
The medal precedence seems odd to me. Shouldn’t it be Bavarian Military Service Cross, EK or other way around, Service Cross, then Hindenburg Cross? Just odd mounting or has someone been playing around with this one?

If this soldier was a "proud" Bavarian, he could have chosen a second less official but quite used variant: put his MVK in first place followed by the IC 2nd class, Ehrenkreuz and last the DA-Medaille. I have never seen an "Ehrenkreuz" be placed before any EK 2. Kl. or crosses/medals for valour. Very strange...

That's probably the most common Bavarian junior NCO combination-- wait for one in correct precedence!

Thanks guys for the help, I realised as with other states like Saxony, Bavarians often liked to put their own decorations in front of the EK, this bar is just weird. First thing that got me suspicious was the fact that the ribbons look brand new.

Oh, it could well be 100% period original-- an "Ugly" contrary to regulations bar. But there are enough "Good" ones out there to wait.

I actually EXPECT full dress medal bars to BE more mint than not-- they were only worn for a couple of hours, a couple of times a year. Not like service uniform ribbon bars worn every day. Most of the loss in condition we see is simply bad storage and careless handling over decades upon decades.

I wonder about THAT order of precedence on that bar. Very strange. Maybe the Hindenburg cross was added at last and the other medals were worn in bavarian order of precedence with the MVK first...
