a key fob for the hotel? was there a hotel?

If there was, it would probably have been in the USA. That is the English spelling of Ulan.

Throwing "Hotel Uhlan" into a search engine doesn't come back with much, but I did find a reference to a Hotel Uhlan (spelled that way) in Munich.

ahh, interesting. I couldn't find ANYTHING when I did a search.
It came from an estate sale (a military dealer) and had a note with it saying 'picked up in WW1'.
If it was, it looks as if the hotel collapsed onto it!
It's a few inches across, quite large. If not much value in it, I thought I might do the unthinkable(!) and polish it up, and use it as my own key fob! But I'd like to find out a bit more about it beforehand...
