Thought I would just post a couple of oddities I have tucked away in the corners of my display. Meybauer marine zep badge that is a lost wax casting and more than likely rejected . I am thinking probably a jeweller made casting as a trial piece. The piece seems fairly old and patinated but interesting . Second up is a little more odd. Marine land pilot badge ,again lost wax casting . Seems this time the cast was rejected because the mould broke as indicated by the break lines up the side. The reverse is odd though seems to have had a type of gauze over the original badge that has shown through on the cast. It is in solid 800 silver and seems to be taken from a stamped non plated over badge . Again possibly the customer wanted a silver upgrade to his humble stamped buntmetal one .
