Is your Trench Club the same of the one depicted on the pic that I've posted up there?

      T.,

No, the one you have shown is not like mine. My example has a large spring with a chain and a spiked ball on the end.

??? A proper Morgensterne type? Are you sure that's AU? I've never seen a chained AU Trench Club...
I would be very interested to see that TC.
Please post the pictures as soon as you can.

        Thanks
        Tom

          Austrian Trench Club

          T.

Here are a few pictures of the club. My memory of it was not so good. It does not have a chain.

It appears to have had a unit marking on the wood, but now, all that is left is "I.". It looks like there were other letters, which are now gone because pieces of the wood have chipped off. Here are two more pictures. Chip

              Dear Chip,
Of course that's not a chain amd not a proper Morgensterne.
Many TC collectors say your type of TC is of German production, but no documents or infos were ever found about it.
Looks like a very nice example..

One important think: does the inscription looks to you like a private work or a factory marking?

              Cheers

                T.,

I had always assumed that this was an Austrian piece, because the spring and handle are identical to other patterns used by the Autro-Hungarian troops. I have never seen Germans with anything resembling this type of club. The marking on the wood looks like a typical unit mark, not something put on in the factory.

                  Dear Chip,

As far as I know there are just 5 or 6 existing (more or less..I mean very few!) German and AU pictures with TC shown on them , then you couldn't have seen also AU soldiers handling a TC like that one (Personally I did not).
Many collectors refers at this one and at the one with the cubical head as German production TC.

                  Cheers
                  T

Got it, here are some better pictures, so its a fake?
The colour can be a bit off, because of the camera (flash).

I have not see a good one like this before. Drapeau Noir specializes in these Gurschner badges, so he will be able to tell you for certain.
