GST Side cap

My VM officer's side cap is obviously badged to the GST, but I was always under the impression that GST side caps were of a different design, specifically in respect of the 'flaps' on either side, rather than being of normal NVA design.
Any comments on this ?
Have included a pic of senior officer's peaked cap only to add interest !

As far as I know there was no other difference than just the GST-cockade.

The hats in your picture are very early GST caps. Additionally, you can tell that from the early uniforms that they are wearing. As said previously, GST Marine wore the volksmarine caps in blue as pictured.

The "land"-based GST (as shown in the picture) used this style of cap all the way up to 1990 - and they were thus different to the navy ones, which followed Volksmarine-styling.
