    Post war fire fighter helmet

Ok, I bought two helmets at a vintage motorcycle show recently mainly for the one that isn't pictured here, I wasn't sure what it was so I started looking on FB and was told it was a post war fire fighter helmet, but I have little exp with post war so I was wondering if anyone had any info, thanks the helmet is all aluminum and has a foam backed crown piece in the middle of the liner

    Hi!

yes indeed! These are fire fighter helmets but not DDR. These are early WEST german helmets.
Early East German fire fighter helmets looked alike but had more the shape of a M16 than a M35 and they were made of fiber.

    Cheers,

    Alex

I agree, West German, probably from 1960s. LS logo = Linnemann & Schnetzer, common helmet maker for many West German police and civil organisations. Look like white flourescent band around helmet has mostly worn off (can see part of it). Also should have leather neck protector.

      Regards

        Hi Klaus!

Cool! I learned something new. Always wondered whom that logo belonged to....
