    East German Officer Collar Tabs

Does anyone know when East Germany phased out the bullion-type collar tabs, and cuff bars on their officer's uniforms, and went solely to the metal ones? I've recently seen uniforms dated as late as 1982 with the bullion type tabs, and an early (late 60's) dark collar uniform with the metal ones.

metal collar tabs were introduced in 1966, so it's possible to see dark collar tunic with them.

Many thanks for clearing that up for me. I was under the mistaken impression that they came about much later, replacing the bullion ones. Was there any regulation that dictated the use of either type specifically, or was this just strictly by chance as far as who wore which type?

From what I understand the bullion collar tabs were used up until the early 1980's. I do not know the exact date that they went over to the metal collar tabs. So the 1982 tunic's that you saw with the bullion collar tabs are correct.
