    Happy Birthday Michael Gallagher!

Being a fellow Irish-American, I called to wish Michael Gallagher a Happy St Patty's Day and I inadvertently learned that today is also his birthday...talk about luck of the Irish!

May you live to be 100 years old, with one extra year to repent.

Here's my Irish blessing for you:

The Birthday of a Big man should be marked, he is and it has.

Best Wishes from this Command Genosse.

            Well,

I guess the secret is finally out. You have to admit, I did a great job of keeping this hidden for quite some time.
            I hit the Big 60 on this one. I feel 35 ..... just wish I looked 35. I look 60.
The really great news is that I was around to celebrate this one. I almost missed it.

Last month, I had open-heart surgery to replace a valve. I was born bi-cusp with only two valves. Upon retiring from military service in 1996, this birth defect was discovered, and I was told by a team of specialists that eventually the day would come when I was going to have to deal with this matter.

Well, twice in 2012 I passed out (for a really long time). I didn't want to face the music and acknowledge what was really going on, but the second incident could not be ignored for what it was, and I reluctantly went to the hospital.

What I did not know was how close I was to leaving this planet. It turns out upon being opened up on the operating table, the valve in question had no leaflets at all. So the surgical team stood there in disbelief trying to figure out how it was I was able to be there for the surgery. I should have been 6 feet under.

I think it is the Irish in me. I'm just too ornery to know and realize I was supposed to have moved on.

So ...... you guys are still stuck with me, and will be for some time to come.

Thanks to all of you that have wished me a Happy Birthday. Now you know just how "Happy" it really was.

            Thanks John.
