    ddr tractorschool photo's

the gentlemen on the photo seem happy.
    they must be rebuilding germany.
    the good old days.
traktoristenschulen were a common site I believe in the DDR.
this photo was taken in Grossraschütz.
both photo's came together, don't know the connection.
perhaps a teacher and 5 jung students.
    all the best.

Thanks for posting these two photos. This is an area we have not had much discussions about. After seeing your two photos you have posted, I am interested in reading any further discussion from fellow members.

Thanks for the additional photos. Do you know if there were any documents, pins or badges from the school?

chiffonnier - Thanks for your last informative post. I have posted two photos that were taken from northern East Germany. I hope you find them useful. The two photos relate to showing a VIP Soviet advisor farming activity.

closer inspection shows that the animals are indeed kalfs.
                  one head is visible.
on the right there are white buckets usualy used to feed dissolved milkpowder or the first mother milk depending on what they are gonna do with them.
slaughter or raising them for milking cows.
but you can't see the end of this building so there must be a lot.

                    Gentlemen,

Interesting subject. The Traktoristenschule großraschütz was located close to Dresden. It would have come under the Ministirium Für Land-Forst-und Nahrungsgüterwirtschaft. I didn't find any badges specifically related to the school but there are badges specifically for tractor drivers. For instance "Bester Schichttraktorist" (Batel's #641) and the "Medaille Schichtfahrer der Sozilistischen Landwirtschaft" (Bartel's #644). I couldn't find any pictures of these badges on the net and the pictures of the ones in Bartel's book are small but I will see what I can do with my camera tomorrow.

                    Regards,

                    Gordon

I have a box of badges somewhere wich might contain something relevant.
I know I have some naturschutz and forestry badges wich are in there but those will be on the WAF already i'm afraid.
but that term schichttractorist seems familiar.
looking forward to your photo's of them and thanks gordon and ralph pickard.

                              thanks gordon for posting these.
I've searched all evening and this morning but no luck for what I thought I had.seeing your pictures,I know I haven't got one of those.
been googeling for this subject as well and it's new for me how much there is on this subject.
                              here I found a website dedicated to the hardware with thousands of photo's aswell as a forum;

                              http://www.ddr-landmaschinen.de/grundseite.htm

also on the bundesarchiv are lots of photo's on the matter.
                              here are 2,
the guys repairing a tractor are a traktorist der brigade JUNGE GARDE and a brigademechaniker in the kreiss Döbernitz.
photo's are from the early fifties
