    Post 1965 officer cuff bars

I know this is one of those questions that I should not have, as by now I should have invested in the Klaus Walther ... but somehow my money has always been directed elsewhere...
Can somebody with the fabulous book clarify this issue:
Of the metal stamped cuff bars for officers, i.e. NOT the so-called bullion wire, hand-embroidered ones, but the ones with four metal prongs at the back, do they exist in all Waffenfarbe? Black for Pioniere, Yellow for Nachrichten etc.
I have only ever seen them in white (and Green for GT).
    Thanks for your patience

Matteo - Yes, Walther indicates the stamped metal cuff bars with branch colors of pink, brick red, yellow, black and dark green were worn by the NVA from 1966-74. It says that white and orange (paras) were worn from 1966-82. It indicated that the hand embroidered ones were worn from 1956-65. I have a para officers uniform that has the metal cuff bars with the orange color.

It's #244 on page #66 with the photo of the bars shown on page #15.

      Matteo,

      Kevin has supplied the answer.

To add, I have Parade Tunics with the stamped color-piped metal Cuff Bars for MDI (Polizei); MfS; Air Force; and Signals as well as the two branches for which you've already seen them.

          Matteo,

Although stamped metal collar tabs & cuff bars with colored piping for Army officers were officially discontinued in 1974, there was a wear-out period up through 1977 where it was permitted to wear them. So don't shy away from a tunic dated 1975-77 with color-piped insignia if you have an opportunity to get one. They are actually quite scarce.

Another thing to keep in mind regarding Police parade tunics: only the Kasernierte Einheiten wore cuff bars, not regular Vopo. The Kompanien der Trapo were also the only Trapo units who wore cuff bars. EM & NCO ranks of these units could also wear NVA-style shooting cords & NCO collar tresse.

When I'm back in my Carpenter Shop Storage, I'll look for them. Maybe I'll have some of every Colour left to Scan them. I Also have MdI ones in the same drawer.
