Last month, I gave my wife a Christmas list of DDR militaria I want. Today, I got home to find a package from Bernard Troeger by my front door. The temptation to open it (my wife is not home yet) is almost unbearable!! I haven't felt this way since I was a kid. I guess I should behave and leave it alone

I have known precisely the temptation you face now.
For last Christmas when my first piece of NVA collectibles arrived at my doorstep it was quite hard not to rip it open and admire it.
But as I recall, when I was a small child and would go about peeking at presents it really did ruin the holiday.

Actually,
What really startled me and gave me a jump was how the awards and decorations are "Reversed" on the tunic.

My wife kicked me out of the family room this past Saturday, informing me that she was going to wrap my Christmas gifts. As I was leaving the room, I noticed a pair of vinyl gloves next to the gift wrap. Puzzled, I asked "Why are these here?" Without pausing, she replied, "I wear them when I have to touch your smelly East German stuff so the smell won't get on my hands."
Viktor, i'd have you dispatch the Duty car but then i may not get to see what was in the package from Troeger . . .
