    Oberlösch-meister Freiwilligen Feuerwehr

    Genossen,

Not to long ago I obtained this tunic from
someone who was cleaning his shed.
I'm happy to say that it now has a nice home.

    Oberlösch-meister Freiwilligen Feuerwehr:

This would be the second Feuerwehr tunic I got, but the
first one was a professional one.

For some reason the stitching of the collar and tab stand out:

The label: VEB Dienstekleidung Leipzig 50

And with this label its about all the markings there are on the tunic.
The size is about the same as a 48 rather than a 50 as I first thought
    from the stamp.

It came with a flute and 2 ribbons:
Medaille für Treue Dienste in der freiwilligen Feuerwehr (Medal for Long Service in Voluntary Fire Service - 10 Years)
Medaille für Treue Dienste in der bewaffneten Organen des Ministeriums des Innern (Medal for Long Service in MdI - 10 Years)

Note that there is no piping around the cuff, or just an empty cuff.
    Its totally clear:

Also the bandage pocket is made of a different cloth:

But it seems that it was made like this:

The inside pocket has the same material. And no stamps:

Closeup of the inside and stitching of the pocket:

And under the collar is no felt:

With if I bought this hat, would be a waste to separate them right?

    Old type of cap cord:

    The emblem for Freiwilligen Feuerwehr:

    And the shield inside:

Both have no date marking, but looking at the hat
it seems like an old model.

In the overall its a very nice tunic. I think its very interesting
since it has so much things I don't know that stand out.

I think its a custom tailor job, but maybe you all can help out on what it is.

    Selwyn,

You have a very nice FFW outfit. Particularly nice with the Spange and the whistle. I think these "private purchase" style FFW uniforms are the norm with only a maker name and without any issue markings. Some will be found with "MdI" markings and some with "FFw" markings but I think your tunic and cap are perfectly normal for Volunteer Firefighters.

I was quite lucky that I found it, since he first only had a few hats for sale.
Bought this one and a VoPo one, and from there on, after a bit mailing, he
said he had some more stuff. Most of it was West German. Some DDR but
most where in very poor condition. Except this one.

Ended up buying the 2 hats, this tunic and a bag (which I'll post later on).

Does anyone know if the hat actually is an old or new model?
Since I think the tunic and had most likely came from the same time.

              Selwyn,

Hard to tell if both hat and uniform are from the same period not having come from the original owner. There are some clues from the markings though. Both date from after the introduction of the term "VEB". The cap maker has created many comments etc on the forum but to date has not been conclusively identified. As least as far as I know. The lable "VEB MUTZE" would indicate a hat that probably dates for the 60s or 70s but I have no concrete proof of this. VEB DIENSTBEKLEIDUNG LEIPZIG made uniforms for almost every DDR organization and as a civilian uniform it is not unusual that there are no other markings in it. I have a number of FFW uniforms marked in this fashion. Unfortunately I can not post any of them on this thread as they are all in storage.

              Regards,

              Gordon
