Isn't this the same seller that is mentioned in other threads as being a crook?

I don't know what an early helmet should go for, but I am sure that that is not the right price!

          Gents,

The fellow who runs collectors guild has a very good reputation but his items are almost all on consignment. I think the price of the helmet is way too high as well. As P.T. Barnum is reported to have said, "A fool and his money are soon parted."

Would you sell me your Tschako at 150 EUR as well.

Nico, this dealer has obvious very high prices, because many people in America have do not have a clue about prices. Look at this SS Eagle : http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Waffe...s/S020156.html

It should be at least 4 times less than the asking price.

                  Gents,

Peter Whammond, who runs Collectors Guild, takes consignments and lists them at what the consignor wants and adds 15% on top for his services. He then charges the buyer 10% for selling them the item. A lucrative organization. I have known Peter for many years and to the best on my knowledge he has always been honest. Just very expensive.

                  Regards,

                  Gordon

I read about him somewhere on the WAF forums and they mentioned that he (germanmilitaria.com) was not Torsten (germandotmilitaria.com). The thread was about sellers that were not liked. Who knows there is probably a third "germanmilitaria.com" out there.

any item is worth as much (or as little) as you can sell it for or as much as you are willing to pay for it...if this seller can sell the items for those prices...then good for him....any seller is free to determine his own prices...whether he actually sells anything at his prices or not is his problem...just my opinion. Cheers, Torsten.

To me it is not honest to sell a 3 EUR armband at $36 US. It is like 10 times the price!

                            Torsten hat aber Recht...

This of course is the beauty of the free market....we are free not to buy from him.....just as we are free to complain. The same issue runs wit Gowenmilitaria.
What's the sense in complaining about a seller who sells a book in the USA fro $90.00 which is available for 30 Euro on Amazon.de? Without getting into the fact that not every collector wants to take the time to look for sources with the best prices....aside from Ebay (which is pretty far from a free market situation) the regular market is made up of sellers that set their prices to what they want to receive for any given item. It does however seem a little silly (if only for poor business practices) to sell an item on consignment with a 25% increase to the buyer. Traditionally the seller and owner agree on a selling price with the seller retain a percentage of the agreed upon price as their profit...but then again, they are all still free to do what they want. IT's not as though they are price gouging on batteries and baby food after a hurricane. This is the best way to stay away from certain dealers. 2000 plus for an SS sleeve Eagle is a joke no matter what. Perhaps if it belonged to Sepp Dietrich and he gave it to you personally...but even then.
