How big is your library?

How big is your library? Just the items on shelves...not boxed away in another place.

I was making room on my book shelves today for my incoming DDR books (23 ) and decided to inventory what I already have.

On just the shelves I have 216 books.
Basically broken down as follows (for Reference books):
68 about Soviet Union and Russia
46 from the DDR
7 from West Germany about East Germany
19 in English about East Germany
9 about Latin America during the Cold War (ex. Cuba, Chile etc.)
6 about Communist Czechoslovakia from CSSR
3 North Korea
2 Cambodia
1 Mainland China
1 publication by Polish Communist Party

The rest are literary works.

crushed if a stack tipped over

My brother-in-law has about 4000... sometimes I am worried about him being crushed if a stack tipped over... he has taught in Europe, US and Canada the library follows him

I had a 2>300 hundred history books ( I used to spend a lot of time in used bookshops ) but paired that down keeping the best, selling what would sell, recycling the rest...

Over 100 books related to the DDR or NVA, plus numerous magazines and newspapers. But Dave has me beat with his massive collection of Handbuchs on every conceivable trade in the NVA.

I probably have a 2,000+ books related miliary history, urban operations and military collecting, many related to WWII. I have so many that most are stored in boxes in the garage. They are like children, very hard to give up even if I have not read them in 10+ years. Because of this I've been very selective in what I buy now.
