New in my music collection : Kettle Drums +Drum Banners

    Hello

I want to show the kettle drums and the NVA drum banners that I
recently bought from a former member of the NVA music corps .
These Kettle drums / banners are being used in the Zapfenstreich der NVA ( 4 october 1989 ) also the guy from wich I bought them is on it .
The Grenztruppen drum banners where already in my collection .

    Regards , Johan

They are really nice. I love the quality of these banners be it for drums, trumpets or schells... I do like music items, maybe you and me ought to start a band...

PS. Do you have similar storage problems to me or do you live in a chateau

                  Hi David

That is a very good idea for a music band , ofcourse we must go in front with our Schellenb******228;ume , Gordon can lead the guys with the trompets and we also have some parade-soldiers among the forummembers
Unfortunately I live in a appartment and my free space is very limited at the moment ( those drums are BIG !!! )
I also bougt two original Grenztruppen trompets with banners in the original case.
What funny is that the guys from the musical band played in the NVA band and also in the band from the Grenztruppen !

                  Regards , Johan

You have very rare Goodies in your Collection.
How is the Banner mounted around the Drums?

                    Regards

                        Johan,

When time and opportunity permits, could you further elaborate on the fact that the musicians to whom you made reference, actively participated in both NVA bands and Grenztruppen bands? That sounds like something of interest to be further discussed, if they are willing to talk about it. Were they in some type of neutral military band that loaned members out where needed? Did they have both NVA and Grenztruppen uniforms? I can see lots of different questions being generated here

I, and I'm sure other forum members would be keen to know more about this.

                        Thanks,

By the way, great kettle drum banners. It's really neat that you actually have examples from both the Army and the Grenztruppen.

Those are some nice drums, especially when the banners are attached.

Could you post a picture that shows how the banners attach to the drums?

                          Jon.

This is trully fantastic Johan and a very nice addition to your Schellenbaum! You should also show the truppets!

What would be the next DDR instrument in your collection?
