Hi Folks: I picked these up in Germany at a small flea market...USSR binoculars in case 8 X 30 and based upon the serial# 8711272..they were made in 1987 January (871) or November (8711). The lenses are clear and no issues.

Nice binoculars, civilian made for export (english "made in USSR"), late 80's as you deciphered. I have similar 7x40 somewhere, same type of case and extra "fog" lenses. Soviet optics were reasonably well made (not as good as Jena, but anyway) and really cheap in those times. These were exported in all or most eastern european countries, I don't know about western countries, but probably too. Unless you drop them hard, they'll serve you forever.Comment
