    Bundeswehr - early 1960's soldier - display

    Hello all,

wanted to share with you my display of an early 1960's Bundeswehr soldier.
My last acquisition is the G3 rifle produced 9/63.....all other pieces on the mannequin have production dates between 1961 and 1963.
    I hope you like it,

    Cheers

    Alex

Presentations do not get better than this! Excellent attention to detail. Some thoughts...

You can really see the variety of colors that the Filzlaus came in. The jacket looks more red than most of the pieces I've seen, which is interesting.

Was it common for a soldier to have both the klein and the groß pack worn at the same time? I don't know enough about this, but I was under the impression that usually it was one or the other.

A gascape for the gasmask shoulder strap would be a great addition

      Steve

        Hi Steve,

thank you for your nice comment

Yes....honestly I also do not know if carrying both packs is 100% correct. Whenever I check period pictures it is always difficult to recognize if the soldier wears a small or a big Kampftasche. Often the backs of the soldiers are so unconviniently photographed that it is hard to say what they are carrying.....

I have posted this display also on a german forum (multiboard) and asked for this matter......but still had no feedback yet

As for the gascape.......you are right!! that would have been a nice addition to it
I do own such cape with its proper bag.....a shame I forgot it

        Cheers,

        Alex

          Alex,

          Well done Sir!

I love the wood on your G3. I had this display up some years ago with the gas cape bag added.

Thanks for sharing your great mannequin.

          Many thanks,
          TJ
