What 1,50€ can get you nowadays....

....in this case around 100 helmet covers
Most of the covers are in a used salty condition but there are also a few slightly worn covers among them.
    I'd say money well spent

    Cheers,
    Phil

Good deal for you, bad deal for the German taxpayers

Interesting to see the small variations between the different covers. I don't think I've seen green edging on a 3-FT cover before.

                Phil,

What were the velco strips used for on the Tropen covers?

                Regards,

                Gordon

                  Hi Gordon,

some covers have / had IR squares for friend / foe ID on the velcro.
Other than that I think the velcro was used for callsign patches.

                    Phil,

Very interesting. I need to get one of those covers and one of the IFF patches that go on them. Do you have a picture of what the patches look like?

                    Regards,

                    Gordon

I have been informed by a few ISAF vets that "Glint" (chrome reflective velcro patch) patches were used on hats/helmets and caps for I.D. from the air (Helicopter).....as on this private purchase contractors cap...
                              Prost ! Steve.
