    Officer Shoulder Board Question

This is the only pair of slip-on boards that I have. I am wondering if the black background is proper for Army and also if these boards belong on the shirt.

Uwe, thank you for the quick answer. I really like the look of the black background. Too bad you cannot wear them on the tunic.

An easy way to tell is that Marine boards are pointed and Luftwaffe is blue cloth with yellow piping. That's just a quick and easy rule of thumb for initial identification.

What I'm not sure about is timeframes of the different colored background on the Heer boards. I've got them in gray, black, wool, and probably some others. I know you'd not find black ones on a Mantel, but would you see the gray ones on a shirt?

          Boards

I have seen dark and grey ones on both the coat and the shirt, seems nobody really cares. And now that LHD sells the tunics with the slip-on boards I wonder how long it will take until dark boards can be seen here
