    BW Combat Knife?

    Gentlemen,

    This one got away from me a couple of days ago. Sniped in the last couple of seconds. It purports to be a BW combat knife made by Eickhorn. It is one I have not seen before. There is nothing like it on the Eickhorn web site. It looks like it is a cross between a newly developed knife and the AK74 bayonets that were modified for use by the BW. Does anyone have any information to share about this knife?

    Regards,

    Gordon

      Gordon;
      is it possible that it is an early,maybe trial,version of the Bundeswehr ACK ?
      Or Advanced Combat Knife.
      Like the one here;

        I saw that also at auction , but forgot to bid. I am not sure what it ended for. They are available online for 89 euros. Here is a link

          Flammenpanzer,

          The auction ended at US$127.50. With shipping and insurance probably a better deal to buy from the web site you provided.
          I would still like to know if this is actually a BW issue item. Anyone know for sure?

          Regards,

          Gordon

            Gordon, the Eickhorn ACK, (Advanced Combat Knife), was, as far as I know, only an "commercial item", because the ACK wasn´t adopted in the Bundeswehr.
            But, some, few, of them, were in use in the BW actually ...

            I received an heavy used ACK, together with an M1963 gravity knive from an BW Para.
            He bought this ACK from an retired BW -soldier, who was stationed in Bosnia.
            He was doing duty in einer Sicherungseinheit der Heersflieger and was officially issued with this ACK.
            Only a few of his comrades, received the ACK also !

            So ...

            P.S.:
            The majority of the Eickhorn ACK´s weren´t issued in the Bundeswehr and were later sold as "Commercials" ! ...

            P.P.S.:
            There´re different pattern models of the ACK, (different sawback, ...), actually !

            P.P.P.S.:
            I wrote to Eickhorn and they told me, the ACK was "delivered" to the Bundeswehr.
            If the Eick ACK issued in the BW actually, (adopted there), is a question of faith ! ...

            Hope, this helps !

            Best regards,
            R.

                Reibert,

                Thanks for the additional info. The next time I see one for sale I will have to buy it. I know that a lot of private purchase stuff is used in the BW and the new way of acquiring things for the BW often has them purchasing things that have not been tested by the BW. Individual soldiers also buy there own pieces of kit. I am not surprised to hear that the knives not issued were sold on the commercial market. The chances of me buying one from a soldier who had been issued one are small but as I said before I'd like to buy one anyway for my knife collection.

                Regards,

                Gordon

                  The Eick ACK was tested in the Bundeswehr actually, (so far, as the informations, I´ve got, didn´t fool me !), and, was found as "no good" ...

                  My son is lifer in the ÖBH, (Österreichisches Bundesheer), and his unit allows, that the soldiers may carry private purchased equipment, (f.e., combat knives).
