Panzer beret with edelweiss opinions please...

I picked this Panzer beret up in Karlsruhe in the late '90s.
Was wondering if the two badges are a possible combination for regulation wear. I can't seem to find any pictures on the net.

    Thank you,

100% good to go! Worn by members of armored units within the (former) 1. Gebirgsdivision.

As I understand it, the secondary badge on a beret is not technically allowed, but it is not an uncommon practice anyway. Especially for GJ units, from what I can tell.

The Regulation ZDv 37/10, Para 540, Edelweiß.
The Edelweiss is also worn on the beret of their own Branch of Service, to the rear of the beret badge by soldiers serving in Military District Command VI/1, the Mountain Division, Jäger Brigade 37 and the Mountain & Winter Combat School.

Ah! So they got a special exception. Anybody else specifically excepted?

Very interesting beret. I don't believe I have seen one with a UK makers label before.

                Regards,

                Gordon

I have several in different colours in Stock. Just have to sort them out one day.
I think I saw them from 3 different Makers.

A friend has a black tank beret with edelweiss and it is dated 1971.

I had a Box of 1971 Berets still with no Flag on the Badge.
So the old Style, worn by Armor, Para's and Light Infantry (Jäger) in the Matching Colour.

OA's (Offiziersanwärter - officer candidates) also wear the Edelweiß - along the Jäger badge on their blue OA beret.

                        Cheers,
