    The German Air Police Post-WWII

    Gentlemen,

What was this organization that termed the "Grenzuberwachungsgeschwader"? It's some kind of German Border Air Police" What type of aircraft was available for the post-World War II German Air Police?

    Sincerely,

    Edward L. Hsiao

For border security, the BGS had a Huschrauber-Flugbereitschaft since 1955, later Fliegerstaffeln for each regional command with helicopters and I think the Bavarian Grenzpolizei had one Fliegerstaffel also, but I have never heard of a "Grenzüberwachungsgeschwader." A formation that big, had only the Bundeswehr. But Austrian Army (Bundesheer) has a Überwachungsgeschwader. What was context?

    Regards
    Klaus

      The Long,Cumbersome Term!

      Dear Sir,

I was looking at the Luftwaffe Section in "Twelve O'Clock Forum" and one of the posts mentioned about a book written in German about the German Air Police. That's where I gotten the term "Grenzuberwachungsgeschwader". I think that wing was setup during World War II and believe it or not it had Bf-109 fighter planes!

      Sincerely,

      Edward L. Hsiao
