These are Chemical Protective Gloves. For the Value, I sell them for 5 Euros.

Chemical Gloves? The NBC-Gloves are made from Rubber. These would suck up the chemical aeroles like towels.

In fact these gloves were regular "Überhandschuhe" and were used as a substitute for the rubber gloves for training in peacetime.

What you mean are the late Gloves for the Rubber Suit. In the Early times they had only the Gasplane and these Gloves, treated with some chemical solution before use together with the Mask.
After that, they used the Poncho, what was a Chemical Protective in the Early times, later Issued as a Wet Weather Garment and then the Overgarmet came into Service. I think it was 79 if I remember right.
As an additional Source, you can used Schusters new Book, there you can rerad more details.
BTW. in the 80's an 90's they had Trial Pattern Camo Ponchos clearly marked as NBC Protection, they also came in 3 Sizes.

Schuster also writes, that the gloves were used as NBC gloves, yes, but these never were intendet for it. A very little but important difference.

We carried these in our ABC-Schutzmaskentasche and used them for NBC protective pupose only. Since these gloves are unlined/unpadded they are useless to protect from cold. What other pupose could they have?

(Maybe some of you remember the drawing in the ZDv 3/11 or Reibert book of that soldier whos eyes where bathed with water after he was contaminated? Take a look at the gloves.
Don't have my manuals at hand but will look out for more pictures, e.g. in the 10/3 or 3/12...)

Asked a Friend who is a BS and he told me the same, NBC Only. They're even not allowed to use them as Overgloves for Work or so. He told me that they still have them in the Depots, but didn't use them. They're Part of the Personal NBC Protection Kit as only NBC Troops carry the Rubber Suits.

Sorry. But read the old Reiberts. No Gloves for NBC-Protection.

I served for 12 years in the Bundeswehr, 8 years as a quatermaster (VDF).

The gloves were used as NBC-gloves, but they weren´t.

Ask a ABC-Abwehrfeldwebel for the value of this gloves during a NBC-attack.

In the Bekleidungsstammkarten (Table of equipment and uniform) the gloves were calles "Überhandschuhe, oliv". in the VKK (Versorgungsartikelkatalog), too.

                No mention on NBC-gloves.

In real conflict you would get the Overgarment with rubber gloves and not using the fabric gloves.

We carried the gloves in our NBC-bags, too. But we were told that these were only for trainiung purpose.

So you have to divide: Gloves used for NBC-protection in peactime training and use of the "real" NBC-gloves during real conflicts.

Thank you very much! So these are just NBC training gloves?

@Matt: No, they aren`t. They have no special/particular purpose.

@hoover: I have to stand correct, I was wrong conserning the OFFICIAL purpose of this gloves, they have no particular.
I checked the ZDv 5/.... series (NBC protection) today. No hint on the "Überhandschuhe". They are, in fact, not part of the "ABC-Selbstschutzausstattung" (individual NBC protection kit) I found those Überhandschuhe as well as the "Überhandschuhe gefüttert" (winter) on my old Bekleidungsstammkarte with the rest of the combat garment.
BUT...the only purpose we ever used them for was for NBC-defence training, when the overgarments and the rubber protection gloves were not available.
These manuals say, that in different cases of "fall out alert" etc. soldiers have to seal up their uniform etc. and put on some (undefined) gloves. And that's was they were used for.

I also think they were ment to be worn over other gloves - in the same way as the splinter camo gloves issued in the 50ies. The oldest I´ve seen are made in the early 60ies...

                          The name is:

Überhandschuhe zum Kampfanzug (... to be worn over other gloves)

First in Flecktarn, see the early pictures from 1956.

                          Next in oliv (Überhandschuhe, oliv):

                          http://www.asmc.de/de/Bekleidung/Her...t-gross-p.html

                          Last as Überhandschuhe, Tarndruck.

These gloves have nothing to do with NBC.

                            I agree.

But it is right, we used it as NBC-gloves, too, like my relatives in the 70´s and 90´s, too.
