        Yes, that is West German, some style was used by BGS and Civil Defense. Is it BGS Stamped on the metal parts?

          Looks green to me, so it's BGS. CD and Police used blue ones.
          I had some from SH, NRW and Niedersachsen.

            Thanks for stopping by. These canteens started to appear in the early 1960s.

            Here's one of mine on a mid-1960s BGS set-up. If you give us the maker's mark off the bottom of the cup or the neck of the bottle, we could probably tell you the manfacturer.

              I remember seeing these at surplus stores, they are nice quality heavy duty materials, I thought they were for soup or stew? because of the extra large cap

              are these also used for hot food containers or just for water? the opening looks big enough to use a spoon

              reminds me of a thermos to hold chicken soup or something similiar

                It's a so called Labeflasche. As I know they were used mostly by Medic Unit's and the Wehrmacht Model by the "Infantry" Units.
