Das Leistungsabzeichen

The "Abzeichen für Leistungen im Truppendienst" (German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency) was approved for wear in 1971. It is the most widespread badge of the German Bundeswehr and so it deserves it's own thread here, I tink. Three grades do exist, Bronze, Silber, Gold, which are awarded to all ranks. You'll find the exact requirements here:

Only metal Leistungsabzeichen are awarded. Soldiers receive the badge along with a miniature and a document. The miniature is for wear on a civilian jacket e.g. Cloth badges can be worn as well. They are offered by a couple of manufacturers.

As far as I have seen, 20th and 25th repetition grades do also exist. Would be nice if you would add your variants.

The requirements for the Leistungsabzeichen im Truppendienst für Reservisten are even harder.
I don't know the exact requirements but I can dig out my Reibert.

Yes they are! And the Reserve repetition badges are the most rare ones indeed.
BTW, Reiberts would be worth a thread on their own...;-)

My first Leistungsabzeichen is from January 1972.

I earned my Bronze in 76 and silver in 77.

Sadly, they are referred to by the Amis as the German PT Badge. They don't know that you have to be recommended by your battery commander and also have o have earned the schutzenschnur to obtain it. I have always been proud of mine and wore them proudly!

From what I have seen, 35th repetition is the highest grade that is available

Yes, it's more difficult for the Reserve personnel. In addition to the standard requirements reserve personnel has to meet certain conditions in different exercises like machine gun firing, hand grenade throwing, and obstacle course.
