    Please Help Identify these Brustanhänger

    I just picked up a large group of insignia and souvenirs from a US soldier that served with HQ AFCE (Allied Forces Central Europe) in the 1980s. The lot included these Brustanhänger and beret badges. If anyone could help ID the items with the letters next to them I would be grateful. The Brustanhänger "E" has some lettering which is not visible because of the photo flash. It reads "Heimat Schutz - KP - 3232". Thanks in advance for your help. Just so you readers can know too, the bottom left Brustanhänger is for the Belgian Nike Missile Squadron 51 of the 11th Missile Wing. The one on the bottom right is for HQ AFCE and was worn only by US and Allied soldiers assigned to the Headquarters.

    usmedalman,

    A-Bundeswehr Military Police-probably not German made due to shape-sorry but I don't have time right now to go through my reference material and identify the unit and location. Perhaps later this weekend;
    B-Early police cap badge for the state of Rheinland-Pfalz- later cap badges were full police stars without the flat bottom;
    C-Bundeswehr Military Police serving in Bavaria-as per A;
    F-Bundeswehr ABC Abw Btl 900-Chemical/Biological//nuclear decontamination unit-Batallion 900.

    Regards,

    Gordon

        Gordon, thanks for the information so far. Two more to go. Would it be safe to say that the "Lourdes" one might belong to a French NATO Nike unite since there is one here for a Belgian Nike unit?

            There are no identifying marks of any kind on the back. Just the pin for fastening the badge to the hanger.

              usmedalman,

              Sorry but I know nothing about French breasthangers so am unable to comment about the Lourdes one.

                The Lourdes item could be worn for the time of a Soldatenwallfahrt (soldier's pilgrimage) of Bundeswehr personnel to Lourdes. Don't know, just a guess, as I never participated on such a Wallfahrt which takes place frequently, as far as I know. Should be an unofficial badge.

                  That's exactly my guess as well.

                  Cheers,

                          Thanks Mark. What is a Home Defense company?

                            The Home Defense companies were intended to provide local protection for tactically important properties-hospitals, defense plants, fuel storage areas, that sort of thing. Part of the reserve (territorial) forces. Only 210 men or so per company, so that one is probably a good score.
