Unknown shoulder pieces found on the flea market.

It is not my area of collection.
But I could not leave the shoulder pieces.
What do you mean what is it? Water police?

Uncle Kurt - I'm completely stumped!

I wouldn't even venture a guess. The texture on the rank bars is very unusual.

    Can anyone help us out?

    Thanks - TJ

I believe this is Hamburg Schutzpolizei for a Hauptkommisar. I have a 1970 dated BGS Taschenbuch that shows this rank on blue epaulettes. But maybe the drawings are incorrect and this is Wasserpolizei? Either way, I think this is Hamburg.

I thought they need to have the little Hamburg Flag on it, like the new ones with the Hamburg police Star, but maybe I'm wrong.

            Hello,
I know the old Hamburg police shoulder boards in silver only.
And the little bars on the doors I do not hammered?

              Gentlemen,

The 1976 Hamburg Polizei shoulderboards were similar to these for polizeihauptkommissar IE three silver bars that do not go the full width of the board. My reference shows them as being rounded at the collar end and these boards seem to be somewhat more pointed than round at the collar end. My reference is a drawn one but I would suspect the bars were metalic cloth rather than metal one. I have never seen BRD rank bars like this before. Interesting conundrum.

              Gordon

I saw such Style before, but the Bars painted in a kind of Malimo for the BW Fire Service. Later they used a dark red/Malimo braid. There I have some Yards in Stock.

                  Nico,

I'd be interested in seeing pictures of these metal bars you mentioned. I know that the BW Brandschutz wore Malino cloth bars on their shoulder boards of a similar shape to the metal ones shown here. They did not, at least as far as my reference material shows, ever wear three bars as is show by these boards. Max was two bars and after that a star was added. Their boards are pointed, at least on the uniform that I have, but their uniforms are a very dark navy blue. Almost black. The BW Brandschutz boards were not pipped in silver while the Hamburg polizei ones were. There could be other BW Brandschutz rank insignia that I am unaware of. There is very little information available about this organization even on German forums.

                  Regards,

                  Gordon

In September 2011, in Hamburg, a police museum opens.
                    I'll ask then once there.
                    And then you learn

                      Unkle Kurt,

Another museum? I thought that there was already a police museum in Hamburg? Looking forward to your answers tot eh questions on these boards and perhaps some pictures from the museum as well?

                      Regards,

                      Gordon
