    Hi TJ,
No I do not remember how the Eagles looked like from behind!
I know only that it was a poor quality and the Eagles were heavy in weight.

The badge on the left is the "old style" one (thats how we called them).
We were prohibit wearing it because of the lack of the German flag
One of my NCO's wore it anyways.

        Cheers,

          Gentlemen,

Interesting comments on the different badges on the Falli berets.

          Regards,

            Here is a panzer example:

In my 12 years within the Panzertruppe I have seen lots of different badges (badges with pink backing, badges with a small skull - later forbidden -, badegs with a bended gun - sign for your first 120mm hit as a gunner and so on...) but I have never seen a beret without flag.

LuckyStrike23 - Great "inside information," thanks!

I had never heard of the pink backing or the bent barrel before.

              All the best - TJ

                Hi Gordon,
                Please do not tell Falli,
this is the name or nickname fpr East Paratroopers (DDR).
Paratroopers also like to wear under your Bratt your piece of parachute silk. This was a sign that the paratroopers had an error opening his parachute. was also forbidden to wear silk! ;-)

Prior to the introduction of their own beret badges, those Pz related Troops wore a piece of their own Waffenfarbe in the space behind the tank.

The regulations are not strictly obeyed by any Countries military.

We do the same in my Btl.
We have the company's color (blue, red, green, etc.) as a backing behind the badge.

                      Cheers,

                            Philipp,

Thank you very much, I take it that the colour is just worn in the void of the badge and not as a complete badge background. Also the shade of green for 5./ Kp would be Lighter or Darker than the beret?

                              Hello Marc
the backing is behind the whole badge but you can only see the actuall color in the void.

The shade of the green is very dark. It's almost the same shade like the beret.
I am with 5./ but I don't have a backing on my beret.

                              Cheers,
                              Philipp
