We don't talk about medals very much on this forum but I think the Cross of Honour for Valour is one that bears mentioning. It is one that I would like to add to my collection but have been unsuccessful in doing so far. Here is the description of the award from the BW Web site.
Award for acts of bravery given the green light
Berlin, 10.10.2008.
Federal President Horst Köhler has approved the Bundeswehr’s award for acts of bravery. Upon publication in the Federal Law Gazette on 10 October 2008, the new directive on the establishment of the award will enter into force.

The Bundeswehr Cross of Honour for Valour is a new level of the awards of honour of the Bundeswehr, the existing levels being the Medal of Honour, the Bronze Cross of Honour, the Silver Cross of Honour and the Gold Cross of Honour. With this award, Bundeswehr soldiers can be shown appreciation for acts committed in the performance of their duties that are far in excess of the bravery expected.
At first glance it is similar to the Gold Cross of Honour, but has a double oak leaf cluster on the ribbon rack. This also decorates the service ribbon to which the cross is attached. The award for acts of bravery can be presented without the soldier having to have completed a minimum period of service, unlike the general practice for the existing Crosses of Honour.
Minister of Defence Dr. Franz Josef Jung spoke up for an award for acts of bravery some time ago. “The Bundeswehr has now become an expeditionary force committed to the cause of peace. Hence it is appropriate to recognise special achievements on the part of soldiers. Special demands are placed on them, as they risk life and limb on operations” said Jung this March.
