    Phil,

This is an elusive outfit! Probably why you are asking your question here. You probably already have this site book marked but just in case you don't http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_d...der_Bundeswehr
    No wappen shown here unfortunately.

    Regards,

    Gordon

The anoying thing is that most other Jg units are quite well documnented.

        Phil,

Sorry but I do not see any picture of soldaten in front of a Type 181. I do not have a reference for a blue armband being worn as a manouver band either. If you can direct me to the picture I can send it to some friends in Germany and get their input.
The BGS and the BW wore a helmet band similar to that worn by the Wehrmacht IE reversable yellow/red. I have photos of members of armoured units wearing red armbands at Hohenfels in the mid to late 90s but I do not know for sure what the red armbands signify. Propbably OPFOR units as the vehicles carry a red X as well.

        Regards,

        Gordon

          Here it is,
The blue is visable on the left arm of the left and right soldiers just above their flag arm patches.

            Hey there Phil,
they look like the old ear-plug cases to me.
Normally the German soldier wears his ear-plug case in the left upper-arm pocket of his Feldbluse.

            Cheers,
            Phil

              Phil and Phil,

Definitely not a maneuvor band. I wasn't aware the BW guys wore their ear plugs there. I learn something new everyday.

              Regards,

              Gordon

                  Hello Phil,
that was way before my time of service. Ear-plugs were issued for the first time in the 70s. The currently issued ear-plug case is in OD.

This store is selling this specific pair of plugs.
