My friend brought me one of the new Draeger Helmets when he came out to visit a while back He's a good friend!
My helmet has the reflective neck guard for fire-fighting and the side mount with flashlight.
If I lived in Germany, I would definitley be a THW member! I know that I have enough gear to at least be an honorary member!

      Marksharky,

Thanks for the detail pictures of the Draeger helmet. Really good for my records.

      Regards,

Here are a few of my THW shirts. Here is the first one. I can not find any dates or maker stamps on this one.

Here is the next one. The label is too faded and washed out to read, so I do not have any date or maker information.

Here is the last shirt for today. This one is the new style that is currently issued. The breast qualification patch is velcro, but all other patches are sewn on. It is interesting that the THW now wears two patches, one on each shoulder. One patch is in German and the other is in English. The patches on all of the new field uniforms, like jackets, are all attached with velcro.

              Marksharky,

Interesting shirts. It would seem reasonable for THW to have flags on their shirts and badges in German and English because they are much more active outside of the country in recent years.
Here is a picture from my files of THW Feuerwehr and they have flags on their uniforms as well. They appear to only have the THW shield on their left arms.

              Regards,

              Gordon

Here is an interesting pair of THW items. This mess tin, strap and canteen set are a "matched set" and were picked up in Germany from an unissued, old-stock, of THW gear that was being stored at a field station. It is interesting to see the BUND stampings on the black leather strap.
Both the tin and canteen are marked PS 88. These are both "issue ready".

piece of Todt cuff title ?

Today I pulled these of a moth eaten sixties grey THW tunic.
In post 210 of this thread such a badge combination can be seen on tunic.
The blue stripe is to be for Gruppen Führer according to the description there.
Now I'm pretty sure my blue stripe is actually a piece of Organisation Todt cufftitle.
Could it be that former TENO or Todt members wore these in the THW to show that they were once member of these organisations ?
It would be cool if member Simon who posted in post 210 has a piece of cuffband on his tunic as well, after closer inspection that is.
                    All the best,
                    Kees

                      Mark,

Fantastic shirts. Not only does it make sense for them to have flags (as Gordon pointed out), but it also makes sense to leverage contractors who have Bundeswehr patterns on hand. That must cut production costs by quite a bit.

I have stopped collecting ZB/ZS/THW items, but a few years ago there was quite a load dumped onto the market. Including quite a lot of the old Kahki stuff from the late 1950s and early 1960s. Generally they are pretty well marked. I don't know what year they shifted over to having the generic BUND put on their items instead of marks specific to their organization. Mid 1960s?

The Size is about middle between the Kampftasche and the Breadbag.
