A 1962 Bundeswehr Mess Kit

Yesterday I got this 1962 dated Bundeswehr mess kit.
It is slightly higher than the WWII model.
Very interresting is the fact that the maker was also a maker in WWII.

wonder why they made it bigger? seems like they should stay with the less bulky, more compact size

if I had to carry one , I would rather carry the smaller , lighter, compact sized mess kit

Nice messkit Bernhard ! But not from Bundeswehr, its made for the ZB, the "Ziviler Bevölkerungssschutz", a civil protection organization, which was active between the end of the 50ies and 1966 where it was renamed to ZS (ZivilSchutz).

Bundeswehr used this type messkit, but olive colour, from 1960s to today.

They all used the same "Pot".
khaki for Civil Defense
olive for Bundeswehr
green for BGS
light blue grey for most West German Police
dark blue grey for THW
blue for West Berlin Police. Here they used the WH type Models into the 70's.
(sold now by a well known Wholesale Dealer as Luftwaffe WW2).
