    Early bundeswehr tunic?

I need some help and opinions on this jacket that I had in my collection for
about 20 years when I just started to collect. There are some serious
mysteries on this that I would like to get some answers on and I guess it
would make for a good discussion. I have it in the ss section and I would
really appretiate some input from guys with a good background and expertise
in tunics and the various construction techniques.

Based on the discussion in the ss section I think it is quite clear that the
tunic was retailered for wear in the early bundeswher. Can anyone advise to
what insignia would be relevant to restore the tunic back to an early
bundeswehr one. Please follow the link to the discusssion.
    Thanx Jacques

Excuse me but i have never heard that someone retaylored his WWII tunic for use in the Bundeswehr.

At first the early Bundeswehr used much different jackets (as shown in my pic).

When they changed it in the early 60´s, you got or bought a new one with the money you got every month for exactly this use ("Kleiderkassenzuschuss").

Please provide some pics from inside the jacket, we will see, if it is a Bundeswehr jacket or not.

I suggest this jackt is a product of collectors foolness.

Thanx for your reply. I am 100% sure it is not a collector creation and that
it originated from ww2. What happened to it after the war seems to be the
question. No collector in his right mind would do these changes to a
perfectly good ww2 tunic, to change it into something else. Maybe it was
retailered for private wear. Here are some inside pics. Jacques

what makes you sure it was made before 1945?

Beside it is not a typical 60´s Bundeswehr Jacket, please compare:

In addition to knowing that the tunic was made before 1945,( fabric, construction, lining) I was advised by an highly respected collector, very knowledgeable on tunics that in his opinion it is a pre 1945 Dutch made 5 botton tunic that was period modified to and open collar tunic. His observations and what I see in hand correlates a lot. He also agrees that it is not a bundeswehr tunic. Thank you for your advice, it is very helpful in clarifying my bundeswehr misconception. maybe the jacket was converted for use in another organisation (DRK, Police, customservice, Security........). Bundeswehr i would think is very unlikely.
